MINITRIX 11011 Special-Set - R 3/3

The history of Bavarian locomotive Class D II later R 3/3:
In 1898, Krauss Factory from München, built the first 20 locomotives (road number 2400-2419). The next 25 locomotives (road number 2420-2444) have been built by Maffei in 1900/1901. In 1902, Krauss built another 10 locomotives (road number 2445-2454) and Maffei built another 10 locomotives (road number 2455-2464). The last 8 locomotives (road number 2465-2472) have been built by Krauss in 1904. A total of 73 locomotives Class D II have been built between 1898 and 1904. In 1900, from the first lot of Maffei's locomotives, five arrived in Romania (factory number 2130, 2133, 2135, 2140, 2141). Therefore, factory numbers and train numbers of this Maffei-delivery got somehow mixed up.
Between 1906 and 1913, Krauss built another 18 locomotives (road number 2473-2490), under label R 3/3. Between 1921 and 1923, Krauss built another 90 locomotives Class R 3/3 (road number 4701-4790), which was clearly improved in its power compared to the Class D II. When the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG) was formed, the engines became Class 89.8 and were numbered 89 801 to 89 890. In the present, 89 837 can be seen at Bavarian Railway Museum from Nördlingen, Germany.
