ARNOLD 2276 - Gt 2x4/4

The history of Bavarian locomotive Class Gt 2x4/4 (Mallet):
In 1913/1914, Maffei built fifteen (road number 5751-5765) of these locomotives to work for Bavarian State Railways. First locomotive (the prototype) with road number 5751 was delivered to the K.Bay.Sts.B. in september 1913 for initial testing at Maffei's München facilities. Official testing began on April 9, 1914 with very good results. When the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG) was formed, the engines became Class 96 and were numbered 96 001 to 96 015. Still, this engine, the largest and heaviest articulated locomotive in Europe, had proven itself to the point where the K.Bay.Sts.B. ordered an additional ten locomotives from Maffei in 1922, with road number 5766 to 5775 and then DRG 96 016 to 96 025.Specifications:
