The history of Bavarian locomotive Class G 4/5 H:
Between 1915 and 1919, Maffei and Krauss built for Royal Bavarian State Railway (K.Bay.Sts.B.) 230 locomotives class G 4/5 H. In 1915, Maffei built 11 locomotives (road number 5501-5515). Another 44 locomotives have been built by Maffei in 1916
(road number 5151-5560, 5512-5535, 5556-5565). Between 1916 and 1917, Krauss built 20 locomotives (road number 5536-5555). In 1917, Maffei built 53 locomotives (road number 5566-5618). Another 88 locomotives have been built by Maffei in 1918
(road number 5619-5695, 5211-5221). The last 14 locomotives (road number 5222-5235) have also been built by Maffei. When the DRG was formed, they took over only 169 engines which became Class 56.8, 56.9, 56.10 and were numbered (5151-5160) 56 801 - 56 809, (5501-5695) 56 901 - 56 1035, (5211-5235) 56 1101 - 56 1125.
In 1918, 48 locomotives were sent to France and 14 locomotives were sent to Belgium.
