The history of Bavarian locomotive Class D II:
In 1898, Krauss Factory from München, built the first 20 locomotives (road number 2400-2419). The next 25 locomotives (road number 2420-2444) have been built by Maffei in 1900/1901. In 1902, Krauss built another 10 locomotives (road number 2445-2454) and Maffei built another 10 locomotives (road number 2455-2464). The last 8 locomotives (road number 2465-2472) have been built by Krauss in 1904.
A total of 73 locomotives Class D II have been built between 1898 and 1904. In 1900, from the first lot of Maffei's locomotives, five arrived in Romania (factory number 2130, 2133, 2135, 2140, 2141). Therefore, factory numbers and train numbers of this Maffei-delivery got somehow mixed up.
